Jamaica!

As most of you know, Andrei and I spent a week in Negril, Jamaica. It was our way of celebrating our 10 yr anniversay this year (even though its not until August). We had Grandma come and stay with Ava for the week. Although we had a fabulous time and it was quite relaxing, we have learned our lesson and could never part with Ava for that long again. Not until she's a teenager at least!

We stayed at a very nice resort called the Riu Hotel. We mostly just relaxed at the pool and beach every day and every night we saw the nightly shows that the resort had for their guests. Andrei was even pulled from the audience for one of the night's shows. I will post some pictures of that later. We went on two excursions. One to one of the Top 1000 Places To See Before You Die called Rick's Cafe. It's this incredible bar/restaurant set atop a cliff in Negril where each evening everyone watches a fabulous sunset while listening to live Reggae music. There are also these crazy native Jamaicans who climb way up high into trees and jump into the water below. Guests can also cliffdive if they dare. We passed! We actually took some video of that and will post that in my next post.

The second excursion we went on was just as fabulous. We took a catamaran ride to a remote beach called Half Moon Bay. On our way their we stopped to snorkel at a corral reef. That was lots of fun! Then at the beach we had a fabulous Jamaican lunch of Jerk chicken and other native Jamaican foods. We swam in the water and just relaxed all day. It was awesome!

It was a very nice vacation although we missed Ava terribly and we know she missed us. Grandma said each day should would say "mommy, dahdoo where are you?" On the day we were arriving, Grandma kept telling Ava were were "coming back". We did not get home until she was in bed for the night, but that didn't stop us from racing to her room and picking her up and smothering her with kisses. I even decided to climb into her bed and sleep with her that night. About an hour into it, she woke up and looked at me (we were facing each other lying side by side). She suddenly gets this huge sleepy grin on her face and says softly "this is mommy!". Then you can see her little brain thinking and she asks "Where's dahdoo?" and she answers herself by saying what grandma had been saying all day long "Dahdoo coming back!" It was so cute I almost started bawling my eyes out. The next morning I took her to our room where she saw dahdoo and immediately started giggling with joy and dancing. She then said "dahdoo dance, mommy dance!" meaning she wanted us to dance too, so we all three danced in the bedroom together. It was precious.

Here are some pictures from our trip. I will post lots more another time.

Maria, you look beautiful! Love that black dress you're wearing! And Jamaica looks like such gorgeous place to be - I need a vacay so bad. I know it was really hard to leave Ava but it's also a great thing to spend some alone time with just you and Andrei. Glad you had a fun time!

Maria, I realized that I had missed Ava's birthday and will be sending something for her, maybe at a special time for her.
You two look so happy on vacation. Yes, missing Ava sounds normal.
