Sweet Evan

The other day the boys and I were playing in the backyard when our little neighbor Eleni and her mom came over to play.  You may remember this post.  Well, turns out Eleni has turned into quite the little diva.  As soon as they came over to our playset, she walked up to Colton, snatched his little matchbox car out of his hand and said "gimme that".  Well, Colton immediately started crying and walked up to me sobbing at what had just happened.  While Eleni's horrified mom tried to encourage her to return the car, sweet Evan walked up to Colton and said "its ok Colton.  Here you go" while gently trying to give him his own car which Colton did not want.  Meanwhile, turns out Eleni's mom had to snatch the car from Eleni to return to Colton which made Eleni start to have a crying fit.  So, there goes sweet Evan again.  Colton had stopped crying once Eleni's mom gave him his car back, but now Eleni was bawling and having a fit in the grass.  Evan walks right up to her, kneels beside her in the grass, and says "here go you" once again trying to give away his own matchbox car to make Eleni happy.  Well, turns out Eleni wasn't having it either, so I just told Evan that it was ok, picked him up and squeezed him so hard all the while whispering to him what a good boy he was.

Seriously?  How does a 3 year old have that much empathy for others?  And he has been like that for as long as I can remember.  Always trying to please his siblings.  If either Ava or Colton can't find a wanted toy, Evan will zip all around the house, quickly returning with the toy and proudly exclaiming "here you go!"  He is always willing to please them, playing whatever games they want even though I know he'd prefer something else.  He is by far the sweetest little boy I have ever known.  And he is MY son!

Evan, you sweet little angel.  You are pure sweetness right down to your tiny little soul.  Mommy loves you SO much.
